The Jerwood Foundation made a grant of £1.2 million towards the first phase of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art's Centenary Project development programme. This first phase was the rebuliding and restoration of its historic Gower Street / Malet Street site by Avery Associates Architects. The new development, with the Jerwood Vanbrugh Theatre at its heart, was opened on 29 November 2000 by Her Majesty The Queen.
The Jerwood Vanbrugh Theatre is a 200 seat, multi-configuration theatre, one of three theatres at RADA, all of which now have public licences for the first time. The Malet Street foyer, which is open to the public during the day, contains a small cabaret stage, exhibition space, bar and refreshment area.

Opened in November 2007
The Jerwood Foundation has since made a further grant of £100,000 towards the second phase of RADA's Centenary Project. This second phase is the redevelopment of its adjacent Chenies Street site by Andrew Downier & Co. The new development, with the new Jerwood Vanbrugh Studio at is heart, was officially opened on 6 November 2007.
The Jerwood Vanbrugh Studio at Chenies Street will have similar dimensions and layout to RADA's main Jerwood Vanbrugh Theatre on Gower / Malet Street. It will therefore provide an important rehearsal facility for final year student productions and other activities in the Theatre.
Royal Academy of Dramatic Art
The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art was founded by Sir Hertbert Beerbohm Tree in 1904, and moved to its current Gower / Malet Street site the following year. It trains student actors, actresses, stage managers and technical craft specialists for careers at the highest level in theatre, television, film and radio. It aims to maintain and strengthen its position within the English-speaking world as the foremost centre of excellence in its field.
