Jerwood Stable Studio, Ragley Stable Block

Jerwood Stable Studio - New Exhibition Space Commission

1 January 2007

The Jerwood Sculpture Park is delighted to announce that Stephen Marshall of Munkenbeck & Marshall is designing the Jerwood Stable Studio, an exhibition and education space which will open at Ragley in 2008.

The Jerwood Stable Studio will be housed in the impressive stable block designed by James Gibbs in 1751, which is still in use and also houses Ragley's own education room. The space, which retains all its original features including the fine iron stalls, will provide a unique environment in which to exhibit the maquettes and development work from successive Jerwood Sculpture Prizes and other commissions for the Jerwood Sculpture Park.

This is the second collaboration between the Jerwood Foundation and Munkenbeck & Marshall. A vast new rehearsal space designed by the Munkenbeck & Marshall is currently under construction on the roof of the Jerwood Space and is scheduled to open in early 2008.

Munkenbeck & Marshall has won numerous prestigious awards for its designs, which include the Roche Court Gallery (1998) and Roche Court Artist's House (2000-2001) near Salisbury in Wiltshire.
