Winner of the Second Jerwood Sculpture Prize, 2003
In 2003 Krebber won the second Jerwood Sculpture Prize with his proposal for Tin.
Krebber is a sculptor who manipulates form and materials to create work which challenges the senses and our understanding of scale. Tin looks like the sort of everyday object one might come across in a cupboard or on a shelf and disorientates us with its monumental scale. The skewed top, suggesting that the ambiguous form might be opening or closing, gives a hint of movement and a sense of mystery. For Krebber, 'opening and closing, grace and stillness are mingled and frozen in an autonomous object' (Artist's statement).
